Guiyou Huang is currently the senior vice president for academic affairs, dean of the faculty and professor of English at Norwich University, in Northfield, Vt. Huang has been named the next chancellor of Louisiana State university at Alexandria. Huang’s appointment will begin Jan. 1, 2017.

Huang received a Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M in 1993, a graduate studies degree in English from Beijing University in 1989 and a bachelor’s degree in English from Qufu Normal University in Shandong, China, in 1983. He also holds honorary professorships at a number of international institutions, as well as certificates in Management and Leadership in Education and Institute for Educational Management from Harvard University.

Huang’s teaching and research concern four main areas: 19th and 20th-century American literature, Asian American Studies, China-U.S. comparative cultural studies, and Global Education. He is author and editor of 11 books, more than 60 printed articles and essays, and has made more than 100 presentations and keynote speeches at national and international conferences in North America, Asia and Europe.
